Community safety day:
Sharma Begum: aged 21
The Community Safety Day was aimed at young people of all ages, the purpose of this project was to raise awareness of services, in particular police and community safety agencies.
It was aimed to help us build bridges between police and the community, so we are all working together to make our community a safe place to live.
The day was a success as people got involved in the various activities we had on the day from arts and crafts to t-shirt print competition.
There was an opportunity to participate in a public debate with local councillor Ohid Ahmed, Poplar harca's Sarah Castro, Justin Moore- Chair of Tower Hamlets Community Safety and the councils community safety officers.
Many local young people got involved, and highlighted issues to Poplar harca with regards to the level of youth service provided on the Aberfeldy estate.
As a result Poplar harca youth managers will be meeting with small number of young people to address the needs of the young people who find it difficult to access the local youth centre.

My Job on the day was to provide a performance on stage. I believe my performance went well but there wasn't much of an audience due to the bad weather which let us down.
I felt the day could have gone better, as we would have liked to have had more activities on the day, as a result I felt part of the day was dry.
We had a big space to use and many volunteers supporting us on the day, but the space could've been used to its fullest, but that was largely because there wasn't enough money funded into such an important day.
This has been a learning curve for us, and we will aim to raise more funds for future community Safety events we hold.
As this day is dedicated to the community getting involved and learning new things about the safety on our streets- we will aim to make future events more appealing to hard to reach groups.
