Centre for creative expression:
We will be running a series of creative sessions at young people 16-25 giving you creative skills and a avenue to express your creative side.
Come and sign up and work with our creative team. You will have the opportunity to meet new people and sign up to the volunteer opportunities with people in the creative field.
We are giving young people free access to the following projects:
Radio Journalism - you work with other peers in developing understanding in Radio as a medium of communication. How it works, and looking at Radio Journalism as profession. You also have the opportunity to develop your own news production with aim of broadcasting it on a local radio station.
Media Production - Linked to the above programme, this course allows the participants to work with a series of media equipment, from recording sound to film production. Takes participants through Interview techniques to final production of a short piece.
Music production - This allows participants to learn about music production software, record music in a studio and looking at the process of producing your own music, recording sound and vocals.
Book Arts - Paper is used in many forms, like newspaper, storytelling, packaging and wrapping. This course will run for 6 weeks to introduce book as an art to the public and to teach students paper engineering and endless creativity paper can provide.
Art / Photography Workshop - is a series of workshops that look at drawing, painting silk screen painting, sculpture making and working towards a community Exhibition. We are also introducing young people to photography, teaching participants about using manual camera, Flash photography, and Film photography.
Graphic design / IT - These are one day training, using graphic designs, Photoshop and other IT packages such at Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, looking at presentation techniques, designing business cards and exploring IT software.
Poetry and Creative writing - This allows the participants to explore creative writing and use LiC as a platform to perform.
Project and Exhibition - all participants have the opportunity to work towards and set up some art exhibitions in the community centre. You get the opportunity to work with professionals from the above fields, run projects, create a portfolio for job/Course interviews.
